Music in the Park - 23rd July 2006
Hall Royd Brass Band

“Saltaire Bandstand” 2006 got back on track after the washout of the last concert, with a traditional Brass Band concert on Sunday 23rd July. I was away on holiday, but was sent this report by Ed Duguid, a member of the Half Moon Steering Group:

A great day was had by all, Eddie. The sun shone, the Band played (the Hall Royd Brass Band of course!) and the crowd enjoyed the 1st Division cricket and Cream Teas, cakes and ice cream from the Half Moon Cafe. The band went through their full repertoire to an appreciative audience of around 100 people, who sat on the grass surrounding Titus's statue and listened intently, applauding each selection.

I stopped a number of people walking about and enjoying the different activities in the park. "Ah this is the way things should be", they would say. I can imagine Victorian days with the cricket, the band playing, people playing tennis and strolling in the Park and popping into the Cafe for refreshments". Yes, a good day was had by all! Ed Duguid

The fifth of the six concerts takes place on Sunday 6th August at 2.30 pm with a concert of Folk Music provided by Shipley band Scott MacNeal. The Half Moon Café will be open for Cream Teas and refreshments, and will also feature an exhibition of photography by Saltaire’s Dean Williams.
