Our third concert of the season, could have been "under a cloud" with the late cancellation by the choir we had booked. But jazz-guitarist Darren Dutson-Bromley and singer Fiona Pearson came down from Thackley to entertain a crowd of every generation, which reached over 100, with a feast of gently delivered jazz standards. Many of the audience, which two weeks before had sought the shelter of the trees to stay dry, this time sought the shade of the trees to keep as cool as the music. Ice-creams went much better than hot-cakes from the busy staff of the Half-Moon Café.

Despite doubts about the weather, locals of all ages turned out in numbers to enjoy a sunny performance by our "Home Team" choir, the Aire Valley Singers, who surprised themselves with the park-acoustic of their open-air performance of songs from round the world, including "Alouette" as preparation for their forthcoming trip to France.
