Friends of Roberts Park

Help us make a difference

Roberts Park, SaltaireMany people do not know that Roberts Park is an integral part of the Saltaire World Heritage Site. The final addition to the model village, it is listed grade II in the register of parks and gardens of "Special Historic Interest" in England. The Friends of Roberts Park are a community group who were fomed in 2004 to act as advocates for the park, to protect, improve and promote the park for the community now and for the future. We are working closely with Bradford Council and with other local groups and individuals, to attract people into the park and use it as it was meant to be used and enjoyed.

So far we have achieved much through teamwork, and begun to improve the fabric of the park. Apart from things like regular litter-picks and generally tidying of the shrubberies with the help of the Council, we have also been involved with the horticultural side of things. In spring, the grass banks in the park now have drifts of crocus and daffodils planted by Friends of Roberts Park, go and see for yourself.

We have taken under our permanent care one of the flower beds in the park. This summer the bedding scheme will be the result of a competition at Saltaire Primary School, watch this space for autumn colours!

The Friends of Roberts Park meet monthly in the Halfmoon Pavilion in Roberts Park from 7 p.m. New members are always welcome. If you would like to get involved, would just like further information or dates of meetings, please contact us on
