Discussion on proposal for the year ahead for the Saltaire Village Society
All are welcome to join us at the Saltaire Village Society (SVS) Annual General Meeting (AGM). Here’s a bit of background on what we’ll be discussing at the AGM:

• Simplifying how SVS is run: the current Committee is proposing changes to the current Constitution to make it less bureaucratic and simpler. As a Charity we have to make sure the Charity Commission is happy with any changes we make and they have given us their approval. These changes will be summarised at the AGM and details can be found in advance. For more information, follow this link.

• Electing a new Committee: we are looking for five to twelve people to elect onto the Committee which is responsible for the management and administration of SVS. Once the new Committee is elected Officers will be decided at the first meeting of the newly elected Committee. If you want to be on the Committee you need to let the current Acting Secretary Eddie Lawler know by calling him on 07891 254809 or emailing Eddie at evl2@tutor.open.ac.uk

• Looking to the future: following a survey of residents and an open meeting attended by over forty people we have a proposal on what SVS should focus on in the year ahead. Again this will be presented for discussion at the AGM but you can read it in advance - follow this link.

• Finally dates for your diaries: following the recent announcement of plans for a Saltaire bypass we need to move quickly to discuss this. While we are being told this are very much initial ideas and this is a long way off, these plans will start to blight our lives now – so we need to take action and fast. Therefore the first open meeting of SVS will be on Monday 18th June 2007 to discuss these plans. The second open meeting of SVS will be on 24th September 2007 with guest speaker MP Philip Davies. Look out for more details nearer the time.
