C Salt & Lacewater Vintage

On September 14th 2013 the shop at 30 Caroline Street reopened and now has a large floor space accommodating the unique partnership of Lacewater Vintage and C Salt Fair Trade Home and Giftware.

The shop has seen many changes and was originally Parfitt’s grocer’s shop. It subsequently became a branch of the Windhill Industrial Co-operative Society which it remained until the mid 1960’s. It has since been used as a launderette and more recently as a design studio by the present owner Paul Geraghty. (History courtesy of Roger Clarke and his wonderful book A Penny for Going, available from Saltaire bookshop and the information centre at Salts Mill.)

Lacewater Vintage run by Karen Birch and Ginny Winton has been trading successfully at vintage fairs for the past two years and is described as “Purveyors of an eclectic range of vintage goodies, both clothing and homeware... embracing all that is beautiful, well designed or just plain quirky!”.

C Salt owned by Paul Geraghty has recently started trading in fair trade and ethically produced goods imported from India, Pakistan and Nepal. The products include furniture and other home and giftwares and the combination of vintage and fair trade sits well together.
