An Exhibition and Sale of Saltaire-themed Photographs and Artwork

at the United Reformed Church, Saltaire
From 3rd May to 30th May 2010

DONATIONS OF PHOTOGRAPHS AND ARTWORK NEEDED!
Artists receive 25% of sale price

Established artists and photographers may run workshops in the rooms beneath the Church, with all proceeds to themselves and no rental charge. 
Sale of cards is also encouraged with full cost back to the artist.

All other proceeds go towards the creation of an Education Centre

INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Simply Saltaire, an exhibition and sale of artwork and photography to the benefit of the proposed Education and Visitor Centre at the Saltaire United Reformed Church. 
Approximately 2,000 school pupils visit the Church every year to learn more about Saltaire history, and improved facilities are needed to accommodate them.  The English Heritage Lottery Fund supports a new Education Centre here and is likely to fund part, but not all, of the Project.  The aim of the “Simply Saltaire” Exhibition is contribute to this funding.

HOW TO DONATE ARTWORK OR A PHOTOGRAPH
All donations should have an obviously demonstrable link with Saltaire, and portray an image which shows some aspect of the physical environment or of life here. The must own the copyright of the work you donate. The event is open to anyone, and we are requesting donations of work in 2 main classes –

  • artwork in any medium
  • photographs

DONATIONS FROM SCHOOLS
Schools may also submit the work of a number of children/students or of an individual child or young person, and any type of school, children’s centre or children’s or youth group can contribute.

FILL IN THE FORM
Every donated item should be accompanied by a separate filled-in form. Donation forms can be downloaded from this website and when completed it/they should be brought with you when you deliver your work to the Church. If you are unable to download the form, please email Roger Clarke and request a form to be sent to you.

DONATE UP TO THREE ITEMS
Each donor may contribute up to three items.  The organisers may have to restrict the number of exhibits dependent upon space available, and if so the best of your work will then be selected.  If all your work is not shown at the start of the exhibition, it may be shown later as other items are sold.

PHOTO SIZE
Photos should be mounted on board and be no more than 40 x 50 cm. 

ARTWORK SIZE
Artwork on board or framed should be no more than 75 x 60 cm.  

SCULPTURE SIZE
Sculptures should be capable of mounting on a plinth or board and be easily carried by one person.  Any larger works of any kind should be discussed with the organisers before donation.

LABELLING DONATIONS
Please label your work on the reverse side with your name, address, phone number and title of work.

The Church is situated on Victoria Road, Saltaire, close to the railway station and opposite Salts Mill.  Its iconic tower will enable you to identify it very easily.

You will receive a receipt for your donation.  While we will take every care to ensure the safe storage and exhibition of your work, Saltaire United Reformed Church and its representatives cannot be held responsible for any damage or loss which may occur whilst in our care.   

HOW THE EXHIBITION WILL WORK
This is not a competition.  Your work will be on display and on sale over a month period in May, 2010.  Donations will be removed as purchases are made.  Any donations remaining at the end of the month will be sold at auction on Monday, 31st May. 

RESERVE PRICES
You will be asked to state a price below which the work cannot be sold or a reserve price if it is auctioned. 

SOLD PIECES
If your work is sold, you will receive 25% of the purchase price to contribute to your costs, and the remaining 75% will be donated to the Education Centre Fund.

UNSOLD PIECES
If unsold you will be asked to collect it, or we will discuss other options with you.
