Dear vintage lovers

It may be the beginning of 2009, but winter doesn't have to be dull! Rose & Brown are hoping to brighten up your January by bringing you news and events to add sparkle to your wardrobes and homes!

Firstly, if you pop into The House of Rose & Brown you will see that ALL vintage clothing prices have been REDUCED by between 10 and 50%. Meaning that there really are some gorgeous bargains to be had! This includes our rail of menswear, so get along quick and snap up an inspiring outfit which WON'T be found in the carrier bags of other sale shoppers! Some of the stock from our local designers are also at sale prices during January so if you're looking for handmade felt corsages or quirky jewellery or cards, now's the time to visit The House of Rose & Brown!

Our next Saltaire Vintage Home & Fashion Fair is just around the corner - on Saturday 31 January from 9.30am to 4pm at Victoria Hall, Victoria Road in Saltaire. We'll have around 25 stalls of vintage loveliness for you and your home, along with vintage music from the 20s to the 60s and scrumptious refreshments from Interlude, Shipley's very own vintage style tea room and emporium.

We're adding a twist this time too! A 'NEW YEAR, NEW YOU' kinda twist as we encourage you to make 2009 the year that you LOVE your own style! Image consultant Charlotte Meek will be available for advice on revamping your image, styling with confidence and buying clothes that help you feel GREAT. And with so many vintage bargains to choose from at the Fair, the NEW YOU starts here!

Admission is £3 on the door, with concessions and group discounts available. Or why not pop into Rose & Brown or contact me for advance tickets at just £2 each?

The House of Rose & Brown is also participating in an event with a difference - A Posh Frock & Accessory Swap in aid of Bradford Cancer Support on Thursday 29 January from 6.30pm to 9pm.

Forget Twiggy's Frock Exchange, this is Bradford's own version, and it's all for a good cause! It's a good excuse to have fun, enjoy a glass of fizz, browse some quality stalls and go home with a pre-loved dress or accessory that deserves a new, loving home! You'll need to donate at least one item, and also pay a small donation towards the charity, but for an evening of fun, with all the thrill of hunting for hidden gems it's a small price to pay! Image Consultancy Thinking Velvet and seamstress Sue will be on hand to offer expertise and advice, and there will be a number of high quality stalls including our very own House of Rose & Brown, selling beautiful wares and contributing a percentage of sales towards Bradford Cancer Support.

I'd also like to mention a new initiative set up by Natasha Harris, a Mothers' Day Craft Fair at Victoria Hall on Sunday 22 March. Natasha is looking for artists, designers and makers to take part. If you're not looking to have a stall, put the date in your diary, bring your mum along, or get your kids to bring you! Get in touch for more information.

Look out for new dates for Saltaire Vintage Home & Fashion Fair - Saturday 11 July 09 and Saturday 12 December 09 are definites and we might also sneak in a March date!

Check out our website for some fabulous vintage buys too:

Finally, our favourite music night - RPM is relaunching soon with a new venue and a new scope for bringing you the best vintage vinyl and quality live acts. Check out their MySpace page for details

Here's to a truly vintage 2009!

Best wishes
