FUTURE VINTAGE: Saltaure's first ever catwalk fashion show

On 20 September, the final Saturday of the festival, Rose & Brown is hosting Saltaire’s first ever catwalk fashion show in Victoria Hall, Saltaire.  Entitled ‘Future Vintage’ it brings together wonderful vintage pieces from every era with collections from local fashion designers, many of whom use vintage textiles, therefore adding an extra twist to the ‘future vintage’ concept.

Caroline Brown, owner of Saltaire’s vintage boutique, The House of Rose & Brown is bringing her passion for fashion to the Saltaire Festival. Caroline said, “Some of my regular customers, many of whom are local faces, will be stepping on to the catwalk to model beautiful vintage pieces such as 1930s day dresses, 1950s evening gowns and 1960s mini dresses.  I want to demonstrate how stylish and wearable these vintage garments are.  These are original pieces, which outshine and often influence contemporary high street fashion.   Along side the vintage clothing, we have collections from several local designers which I believe will be the ‘vintage and collectable’ pieces of the future.  Innovative, and lovingly and skillfully handmade, they will stand the test of time and be appreciated in years to come.”

The event opens at 11am, and offers an opportunity to browse stalls laden with vintage and handmade clothing and accessories.  The catwalk show starts at 1pm with the models strutting their stuff to music from the 1920s to the present day.  

Interlude Tea Room & Emporium will be providing suitably vintage style refreshments so that all of the senses can experience a vintage treat.
