Temporary Textile Display at Saltaire United Reformed Church
From Sunday 10th of February a display of 3 textile pieces will be installed at Saltaire United Reformed Church, Victoria Road, for a month. The installation is part of a PhD research study on viewer perceptions of textiles by Sonja Andrew, a printed textile designer and part-time lecturer at the University of Manchester who is also undertaking research into ‘textiles as communication’ at Central St. Martins, University of The Arts, London.
Sonja would very much appreciate your participation by completing a short questionnaire about the work (these will be available in the church, with a box in which to place the completed questionnaires). The questionnaire is simply to ask what you think the work is about - what it means and communicates to you.
The textiles were previously shown in an exhibition at Walford Mill gallery in Dorset, exhibited at Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, and displayed at LLoydsTSB regional head office in Birmingham during 2007. The information gathered from the research will be used to inform methods for designing textiles for public spaces which other designers and organisations can use, and for teaching purposes with undergraduate and postgraduate design students.
