Rally driver, Barry Tottie, flies the flag for Bradford!

Rally driver Barry Tottie is flying the flag for Bradford this year by promoting the city on his car. Barry, of Eccleshill, will sport the Bradford brand as he challenges for victory in the Yokohama 205 1400 Challenge. The car features the One Landscape Many Views logo as well as the Visit Bradford website address. "It seems to me that for too long now any mention of the city to the outside world tends, more often than not, to be mainly negative," said Barry. " I am hoping to change that, albeit in a small way, by promoting the city in this exciting sport, and encourage people to look at what Bradford really has to offer." The car will be seen by a large audience during the year. The 205 Challenge is a one make series for identically prepared Peugeot 205 cars, which takes place on events all around the country between April and December. The championship is the largest of its type in the world, and as a result receives excellent media coverage including Sky Sports television.

Barry has high hopes for the 2007 season after finishing 4th and 3rd respectively in the last two years alongside his regular co driver Holly Bailey. "When all the cars are the same, it is purely down to who is the quickest driver" said Barry. "There is more competition than ever this year, so it will be hard to improve on my previous results, but I will certainly be trying."

Barry continues to look for support from local people and businesses to help him with his challenge this year. "Having the Bradford branding on the car is great, although it takes the place of advertising space that privateers like myself rely on in what is an expensive sport. Instead, I have been asking local people and businesses to consider helping me promote Bradford with a small contribution towards the running costs of the car."
