Saltaire has lost one of its most respected and well known residents. Norman Firth, aged 86 years, died peacefully, on 27 February 2007, after a short illness. Dearly loved dad of the late Susan, dear father-in-law of Alan, much loved grandad of Gary and Andrew and a dear great-grandad. Will friends please meet for service and cremation at Nab Wood, Shipley, on Friday, March 9, at 10.20a.m. Flowers may be sent to Samson Bairstow and Sons, Queensbury Chapel of Rest, Nelson Street, Queensbury please.

Norman survived the Normandy landings. He was a regular attender at Village Society meetings from the start in the 80s and through the 90s. He will be sadly missed.
