Dear Villager/Friend
Here is an update on some things going on.
Tuesday 14th Nov 7.30 pm in Victoria Hall, FESTIVAL OPEN MEETING, reviewing ‘06 and planning for ’07, all most welcome.
Thursday 30th Nov 7.30pm in Victoria Hall, Council presents proposals for traffic management, again the more the merrier.
You can also add Thursday 16th, 7pm, the inaugural meeting of the Saltaire History Club at the College building in Exhibition Road.
These events have been posted on the Calendar on the www.saltairevillage.info site (please add your own events). SVS is working towards having its own dedicated section on this website
Sharon Ashton and I attended meetings last week on Village behalf. Sharon went to the Neighbourhood Action Plan meeting at Shipley Town Hall. I attended the Ward Tasking Group which influences police priorities in the area. The police are monitoring a definite little hotspot in Saltaire, namely Edward St. Apparently a gang of youths have been causing trouble here as part of a general trail of rowdiness between Hirst Wood and Windhill. PCSO Joanne Holland and her colleague Tim are seeking ASBOs for five individuals, hopefully before Christmas. If you have anything to report you can contact Joanne on the phone 537454, mobile 07968 605390, or email jh6@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
We need to decide whether or not to campaign for the removal of the phone box on Caroline St/ Edward St., to put it in a more prominent position i.e the Car Park. It needs to be clarified whether this phone box is of any use at all to residents. If not, it should in any case be placed where visitors can find it easily.
Please copy this email (or print it out) for any neighbour or friend not included.
Best wishes from Eddie Lawler, SVS Acting Secretary
