A planning application has been submitted to Bradford Council regarding 1a Oastler Road, Shipley, the property in question are the offices above the KFC Take Away situated on Bingley Road and the application is for a change of use from a B1 office space to a Taxi satellite booking office.
It is the intention of the applicant to open a 24 hour booking office for Girlington Taxi’s as they expand their business to the Shipley/Saltaire areas of Bradford.
Normally in applications for a taxi booking office the applicant has to show in the plans that they have sufficient parking spaces for cars that will work from the office, the applicant has stated in the application that the office will have no public access and will solely be used for taking bookings by telephone and dispatching cars using a computerised dispatch system thus removing the need for parking spaces, the applicant also states that it is their intention to keep taxis on the move around local areas rather than being parked up.
Girlington Taxis is one of Bradford’s largest companies and state they have a fleet of over 250 vehicles how can they not need parking spaces?
The truth is that their cars will be parked on our streets, outside our homes or wherever there is enough space to park a car regardless of where it is, we all know to well the problems we already have with parking in Saltaire without a company of this size adding to it not to mention the congestion.
I urge you to appose the application by objecting in writing to the planning authority or by signing our petition that planning permission to be denied which will be made available shortly.
