Saltaire Stories: Past, Present & Future

Inviting students, tourists, residents, local groups and businesses
to interpret Saltaire’s past and to shape the future of this unique community

Plans are underway to create a new partnership committed to improving educational resources about Saltaire.

Visitors arriving in our World Heritage Site ask for an interpretation centre.  Teachers look for help in planning class visits.  Researchers want to visit the Saltaire Archive.

At present, Saltaire struggles to meet these needs.

Three organisations are creating the new partnership

  1. Salt Foundation (holds Victoria Hall in a charitable trust)
  2. Shipley College (holds the Saltaire Archive, and manages Victoria Hall on behalf of the Salt Foundation)
  3. Saltaire United Reformed Church (already provides space for visiting groups).

The partnership will be called Saltaire World Heritage Education Association and its activity programme will be Saltaire Stories:  Past, Present and Future.

The partnership intends to co-operate closely with other local groups.  Various locations and delivery methods will be used for the Saltaire Stories activity programme.
